Farewell Furry Friends
Three months after our wedding, Meg and I made a decision to adopt two kittens. Meg initiated this, but I easily complied. We both grew up with cats, but my back porch was a haven for them in my impressionable years.
On a Sunday in April, we made the trek to a coworker's home in a rural area south of Raleigh to survey the litter. I wanted a grey cat, because I had grown up with one that I remember fondly. They happened to have a grey one. We decided to adopt two kittens so that they could keep each other company during the day while Meg and I were at work.
We transported them both home in one carrier. They snuggled together on the ride back to our apartment, where we made them a bed of a blanket in a cardboard box.

A few months after we brought them in, Meg found out she was allergic to cats (amongst other things). From that point on, the allergist would ask at each appointment, "Have you gotten rid of the cats yet?" It was out of the question; they were part of the family.
But after a year or two of washing the cats every week, reconstructive sinus surgery, and many different medications, Meg's health continued to suffer due to allergies. She got a second opinion on her health recently. Her advisor asked if she had seriously considered finding another home for the cats. The question seemed to hang out there: what is it going to take for us to do what it takes to help Meg function normally?
Meg and I decided that the possibility of better health is more important than the attachment we have to Ansel and Pixel. It was a tough decision emotionally, but it was an easy decision rationally.
About a year ago, we almost did the same, but we tried to imagine life (and marriage) without them. We didn't want to think about that and thus we retracted our offer to find them a new home. The reversal was made easier by the fact that we had no takers for them at the time.

This time was different. We decided to stop living out the definition of insanity and advertise 'Two Beautiful Cats to Good Home.' A response came within about an hour. Five hours later, a man came by to pick up the surprise birthday gifts to his wife. She was just at a place where she was ready for another cat after their furry friend of 15 years passed on last summer.
This was truly a God thing.
Ansel and Pixel graced us with their presence for over four years. Today they left our home. We miss them already.

Comments
The comments for my blog posts are now working! Go on, give them a try!
I know, I need to actually post something to comment about. But since commenting has been broken for a couple of months now, you can go and comment about the myriad subjects I've covered in that time. :) I know you've been dying to let out what's on your mind. Now's your chance!
Okay, I hope everyone knows I'm being quite facetious here.

Low-Hanging Fruit
Amongst other methods, God reveals His Glory through nature. There are many examples; this is but one:
