Fall = Football!
Football season is here and I couldn't be happier (well, unless Noles games were televised on regular TV). Since we don't have cable, I went to Champps restaurant last night to watch the big game on ESPN. It was a nail-biter, but the Noles proved victorious!
I can't say I'm completely happy with their performance, however. They need to step up the running game and reduce the number of mental mistakes. Florida State's defense really kept them in the game, but barely. I'm concerned that if the offense doesn't start clicking on all cylinders, they'll have trouble with Florida and Clemson.
Some statistics that concern me: last season, FSU ranked last in the ACC in rushing yards and FIRST in penalty yards. This speaks volumes. As Bobby Bowden stated last night, they need to improve their blocking - and how. Better blocking will mean better rushing, which will open up the passing game. Fewer mistakes will mean a better ability to capitalize on opportunities.
Next stop: a home game vs. Troy on Saturday. This should be a good chance to get some use out of that playbook.
