Welcome to Week 24!

WOW! Time is flying by. It’s scary to think that I am now at the point in our pregnancy where I am the same stage as some of the people on Maternity Ward. It’s probably a good thing that we’re canceling the cable – last week’s episode, if anyone saw it, was rather disturbing.

Well, this week we actually started rearranging our guest bedroom to turn it into a nursery. We finished putting up the second set of curtains for the smaller window in the room.

As part of preparing for Emily’s arrival, we are also in the process of getting our personal documents together – like drawing up a will, etc. Sometimes, having things like wills drawn up can be even more important than the crib! If you haven’t taken the time to get your personal stuff in order, I would highly recommend it. We are working through Suze Orman’s “Personal Protection Portfolio” – check it out at

This coming week, we hope to pick up our crib and put it together. We also hope to make some more progress on getting the nursery organized.

We had a couple of questions for those of you parenting pros out there …..

Q: If you have cats – how did you keep your cats out of your crib?
Q: Do any of you have family computers in your nursery?

We would love to hear your ideas!!

Hope you have a great week!

Week 22 - Growing like a Weed, Kicking like a Boxer

This has been a busy preparation week for the Dreifuss family.

Over the weekend, while we were in Knoxville visiting our friends Shane and Sarah, we did a little bit of Outlet shopping in the Pigeon Forge/Sevierville area. If you know anything about this area, it is wall to wall outlets. No sooner had we left the scrapbooking super store than we made our way to the next block and there, right in front of me, was Motherhood Maternity, Little Me, and Osh Kosh B'Gosh. OH MY! Let's just put it this way - we never even got to the Baby Gap outlet.

In the Motherhood Maternity store, I went on the hunt for my pregnancy pajamas. Something that you may not think about normally, is that while you need clothes for during the day as you get bigger, you need them just as much for at night. My goal was to find something that I could wear for the rest of my pregnancy, in the hospital, and then after we come home. A pretty tall order. I decided to try an adorable nursing top and pant set that I found - but realized that I was going to have to utilize their "Extra Tummy" pillow. The "extra tummy" adds approximately 3 months to your size when you strap it on - so, in effect, I would be 8 1/2 months pregnant. LORD, HELP US! I was HUGE! It was great to take that thing off and go back to my normal "watermelon" look.

I also tried on my first nursing bra. What a hoot! That thing had more hooks, straps, and holes than a straight jacket.

All in all, Emily came home with some adorable outfits (of course) and the makings for her scrapbook. Want to check out the artist that did her scrapbook?

Emily also received a matching outfit from our hosts, Shane and Sarah. She was very grateful!

On Tuesday night, we did our Target registry. Please don't think that we expect our friends and family to get us anything! We also know, already, that people have been very generous in offering to loan us clothing and "baby gear". Our registry is meant more as a guide to the things that we were interested in as we looked through these stores.

Tomorrow, I go back for another checkup with the obstetrician. I'm a bit saddened by the fact that it doesn't look like Bert will be able to go with me. Tomorrow night, I'm joining our cousin Rachel for a scrapbooking party and I hope to come home with Emily's first pages completed.

So, that's a snapshot of life here in the baby lane .... :)
