7 more weeks …
And tomorrow it will be 6 weeks and 6 days. Yes, we are starting to think like that! Scary, hunh!
This past week, we were back in the doctor’s office for a check-up. For the first time, the doctor checked to see if Emily had turned head down. WOW! Yes, we are getting to that phase! Between weeks 32 and 36 she should be turning upside down to prepare for her arrival. As of this week, the doctor wasn’t able to tell the difference between her head and her tush, so … we’ll have to see if we can tell next time.
Other than that, we had a very uneventful visit – which is wonderful. I had only gained two pounds in the two weeks since my last visit – which is exactly on target. My blood pressure was standard and my tummy measurement was right on schedule.
This weekend, we have our first baby shower, which is very exciting! Bert’s co-worker, Lisa, is hosting his office at her house on Saturday night. Already, many in his office have been VERY generous in sharing baby stuff with us.
My dear friends Michelle and Stuart just had their first little one a few weeks ago, and I got an incredibly insightful email from her this week on her life as a new Mommy ….. So THIS is what I have to look forward to. ….
You wondered in your update how people were filling their days. I shall give you a glimpse of what you have to come in a few short weeks.
5 am - First feeding
6 am - play/change diapers/change her clothes since she spit up
6:30 am - she naps and you nap or rush to shower/get dressed (If you don't do this now, you may not get it done!)
8 am - Feed again
9 am - play/change diapers
9:30 am - eat breakfast/start her laundry/make a flying trip to the store because it is hard to breastfeed at Target/the grocery store
11 am - Feed again
12 pm - play/change diapers/change her clothes since she spit up again or had a leaky diaper/starve because you can't eat and play/change clothes at the same time
12:30 pm - she naps and you change clothes since she spit up on you/put her clothes in the dryer/check the mail/eat lunch/listen to her cry because she doesn't want to nap since she had two good naps in the morning
3 pm - Feed again
4 pm - play/change diapers
4:30 pm - she naps/you prepare dinner and eat/ listen to her cry because she still doesn't think she is tired
7 pm- Feed again
8 pm - play/change diapers/give her a bath
8:30 pm - she goes to bed and you pay bills/go to bed because you know you will be up to feed at 2 am and it is hard to be coherent
11 pm - Feed again
12 am - everyone sleeps
2 am - Feed again
3 am - everyone sleeps
5 am - It starts all over again
You may read this and laugh. I think it's funny also, but it is the truth. I don't feel like I accomplish more than 1 thing on my To Do list a day if I am lucky. I, however, would not change it for the world!!!!! Motherhood is great!
Even though I know that it will be a major adjustment for us, we can’t wait!!

Just 8 more weeks!
So this is what being 8 months pregnant feels like? To give you an idea, I feel like an elephant that has its insides filled with a water balloon. I wonder how my little body is going to be able to handle the fact that Emily should DOUBLE in size between now and her birth. From what I've read, she weighs about 3.75 lbs right now. This is going to be amazing.
With the arrival of Hurricane Isabel, we had some time off from work to do some baby preparation. We attempted to install our car seat base into the car. A friend of mine said that 80% of car seats are installed improperly. I can completely understand that after trying to decipher the instructions we had. We verified that we were reading the English version, but it didn't seem to help too much. We are going to have it checked out before Emily arrives, to be sure.
We also had time to organize some of her clothes and put them in order by size. To top off our Hurricane afternoon, we started putting together our items for the hospital.
Only a few more weeks and she will be here! We can't wait to see her little face!

9 more weeks to go!
Yes, it’s only 9 more weeks until we get to hold our little bundle of joy!! As the weather has started to turn cooler, it becomes even more real that her arrival is coming!
We had our 31 week appointment on Tuesday and everything checked out perfectly. Emily is exactly on schedule. She was not too fond of having her heart rate checked by the doctor (she started moving away from the monitor when the doctor pressed it against my tummy). Other than that, she has been up to her usual activity – she’s quite an active little one.
This weekend, we’re going to try to put together our hospital bag and figure out the car seat.
Until next week ….

Well, Well, Well ..... Week 30
It's been a busy week all around. On Wednesday, we picked up an attachment for our crib that looks like a see-through camping dome. We're hoping that this will deter our lovable felines from invading Emily's bed. Unfortunately, we have come to appreciate their creativity and ingenuity. Initial results from the tent seem to be positive - Pixel tried once when we first got it up and was unsuccessful.
This past weekend, Grandma Albertson (my Mom) was in town. She brought with her a Boppy, clothes, and a super soft hippo for Emily. We also visited the Carter's outlet in Smithfield to pick up a few things.
This morning as I went for my morning walk, there was the hint of coolness in the air - the whisper that the days of Emily's birth are coming upon us. We are now in the single digit weeks until our due date. She is steadily growing - just check out the Week 29 picture on the pic page - and performing somersaults regularly.
Life is good. :)
