Unleashing the Little Person Inside
When you have a newborn, it's hard to imagine that there is a personality inside of that tiny body. In the past few weeks, we have started to see what Emily Anne is like as she has started expressing herself.
It all started when we started grabbing things. First it was a toy rattle. That moment, of course, was captured on digital camera and camcorder. Then, it was her clothing. Zippers, sleeves, and burp clothes all become chew toys. Now, it's anything in range that she can grab. It's both exciting and challenging.
In the past few weeks, I have started watching our friend's little one, Evan. At this point, Evan is 8 weeks old. It was Evan's Mom who suggested giving him some tummy time while he was at our house during the week. Not wanting little Em to be behind, I started that very day to put her on her tummy to build up her upper body strength. No sooner had I put her on her tummy then she flipped over to her back. HOLY COW! That was fast! Last night, she managed to flip a few times from her tummy to her back. She is trying to reverse, but has not fully accomplished it without assistance. I'm sure that it's only a matter of days until she starts flipping both ways easily.
From there, it's on to crawling, sitting up without help, and ....... (can I say the word) ...... walking. Our little girl is growing up!
On the verbal front, she has started making more sounds and mimicing our "ooh"s and "aah"s.
Can there be anything as wonderful as the glowing, toothless grin of your little one? I think not.
