Oh, the things you’ll learn ….

Have you ever met someone and hit it off so well with them that you always want to be around them?

I have a friend that every time I hear her voice, it brings a smile to my face. I can’t help but be happy talking to her because her joy is just contagious. It really does rub off on those around her.

I’m learning that Emily is the same way. I absolutely love being around my daughter. Each day she learns something new. Everyday we have a new adventure. Some of the adventures are physical triumphs like wrangling a diaper on a rolly polly (that’s my Mommy challenge), sitting up and rolling over and back. Others are sensory – petting the cat, feeling the breeze on a walk, or trying to eat the rice cereal AND the spoon. With each new experience, there comes a grin that could light up all of North America and a giggle that would brighten even the gloomiest soul. She derives so much joy out of the little things in her life – her Daddy, bouncing on a lap, eating a teddy bear, etc. It makes you wonder where along the way we, as adults, lost such a simple key to happiness.

Emily, these days, is a very busy little lady. She has started eating rice cereal and we will be introducing other foods in the next few weeks. She has also shown us in the past week that she can roll from her back to her front and ….. yes …. Vice versa. We are starting to hear the first inklings of a little voice in conversation and that beautiful hair is growing by the day.

Our little baby is growing into a little girl …… and life keeps getting richer and richer all the while!
