Amazing! Incredible! Must-See Baby!
It's amazing how babies know what the next step in development is. There isn't an elf that whispers in her ear at night that says, "You're doing a great job with the rolling, Emily Anne, so we need to start working on the crawling. To crawl, you just need to put your knees under yourself and start coordinating your arms and legs."
No, not elves. Somehow, they inherently know what to do. Tuesday morning, we put Em in the hallway outside of our bathroom while Dad and I got ready. The next thing we know, we both looked at eachother and said, "Where's Em?" She had made her way down the hallway to the entryway. HELLO! Our daughter is crawling!
This afternoon, I went to get her up from her nap and found her sitting up in the crib looking at me as if to say, "Mom, where've you been?" Today, she has learned how to sit herself up from a crawling position. Amazing!
I can promise that we are not leading or instructing her in any form of mobility. If anything, the whole prospect is a bit intimidating when we think of all the things that we need to do to prepare the house for a crawler. Not to mention a walker!
With all of this said, though, it's still darn cool. Watch out world!

Happy 8 month-a-versary, Emily Anne!
Tomorrow, Em will be 8 months old! Each day she is adding more skills to her repertoire. Most recently, she has started clapping, scooching, and talking. Oh my goodness, does she talk! Makes you wonder what she's trying to tell us, doesn't it!
In the next few weeks, we are on the lookout for some teeth, some crawling action, and some new foods and drinks to become part of our lives. I didn't quite understand how people said that with children, "your life will always be changing". Now, I do. Each day -- each week is different than the last. There's always something new to surprise you or some new challenge that you've never experienced before. It makes our old lives as a couple -- and as a single -- seem like a relative cake-walk. If you don't like change - DON'T HAVE KIDS! You are forced to embrace and enjoy the constant state of flux that is called parenting. Our lives will never be dull again!
