It's All good!

Emily Anne checked out well at her 15 month appointment. I mentioned some of my concerns about her delayed speech and the doctor said that it is typical for children that are active signers to be later in verbal development. But she said that it's actually a good thing, not a bad thing.

She passed her tests with flying colors, continuing to grow in her weight (22 lbs. 3 oz.) her heigth (29.75") and head circumference. All of these were around the 50th percentile (which means that she is smack dab in the middle of where other children her age measure). She was less than thrilled with the site of Dr.Kartheiser, apparently recognizing her as the same lady who has given her shots since her birth. We both had to laugh that Emily Anne is reaching the age of recognition. I'm sure there will come a day when she starts crying at the sight of the building.

Anyway, we will continue to give her soy milk, as long as she is interested. She definitely likes it better than regular milk. I've been drinking a bit of it and it tastes a lot like a milkshake to me. Thankfully, Em has a very diverse palatte - she likes almost all fruits and vegetables, save cucumbers. She is also a big fan of mac & cheese (a sure sign that she is her mother's daughter) and beans.

One of her most recent adventures has been into coloring. She absolutely loves crayons and does quite an impressive job at scribbling. She also loves reading and can be found, many times, with a book open (upside down, many times) pointing and squeeling at the pictures. Everything is exciting when it's all new!
