Emily Anne's Easter

This year, Emily Anne was able to enjoy what I would call, honestly, her first Easter. Last year, at this time, she had just learned how to grab a toy and we were all very elated! This year, we were teaching her how to find the eggs and put them in the basket. She is in love with eggs. She loves to hide them all over our house, especially in the new cabinet that Grandpa brought up from Florida and is parked in our living room until I can figure out where to put it.

For Easter, she wore a special dress that our former pastor, Phil and his wife, Donna, brought for her a few weeks ago. They were passing through Raleigh and heading back to Kentucky and stopped by to visit. Em looked SO adorable in her little purple dress, and because the weather was cool and damp, it was perfect with long sleeves! It was also her first experience with wearing tights. What a little lady!

Easter afternoon, we did a Easter scavenger hunt at our cousins house and celebrated Easter dinner. We had quite a crowd - Mark and Rachel with their kids - Joshua, Lauren, Caleb, Shanna, and Josiah, my former roommate Kelly and her Mom from Massachusetts, and the three Dreifusses along with my Dad, who was visiting from Florida. Emily had a wonderful time with her cousins, as always.

New feats:
Emily Anne has added the following words to her vocabulary in the past few weeks:

"Moo" ("The cow goes...")
"Wack" ("The duck goes ...")
"Grandpa"

It's a wonderful time - she is learning and doing something new everyday. Aren't we glad we have a blog to keep track of all of it!!

There she goes ....

Emily Anne is a bundle of energy and personality these days. She has now learned how to say "hat" and walks to the front coat closet when it's time to leave. This morning, as Bert was getting ready to leave, Emily Anne was over at the coat closet signing that she wanted her "hat" to go "bye bye". It was so cute!

She also seems to making steps toward .... (drum roll) potty training. She has started letting us know when she has a poopy diaper. This is a wonder to her mother!

While we are making great strides in so many areas, we are also experiencing discipline for the first time. Em has been in time out twice this week for throwing food from her high chair. When she is finished with a particular item, she starts dropping it over the side of her tray. Big no no! After repeated warnings and a hand slap, it's off to the Pack 'N' play upstairs. Needless to say, she has been less than thrilled with her time in time out. Let's hope it starts working to change her behavior.

All in all, she is an incredibly happy, wondrous little person. As her Nan said on the phone last night, "Everything is new to her!". She shows such delight and interest in everything she sees and touches.

It's great to be a parent!
