Turning the Corner

Wow - it has been a while since we've updated Emily's Blog. There's so much to catch you up on.

I'll start out by saying that the potty skill didn't 'stick' but we try every now and again. We got a potty for the upstairs now, too. That one has a feature where it makes a noise any time someone sits on it, pees in it, nudges it, or walks too heavy around it. It's a lovely sound that resembles the turn-the-page chime in those old childrens' books on tape. Except that it's not so lovely when it happens eight times when you're getting ready for work. Ah, the joys of parenthood in these high tech times. :)

ANYWAY...
Last night was very momentous in our daughter's development. Aside from the fact that she didn't eat her dinner, but wanted cheese & PB crackers instead, she got high marks in three areas:

1. When placed on the Time Out bench for crying over aforementioned dinner episode, she calmed down in less than a minute and sat quietly thereafter for two minutes.

2. When giving her a bath, she didn't have a fit over water in her face during the hair-washing. This is HUGE! It's hard to explain just how freaked out she would get (even just a few days before) when we'd wash her hair. Now - all of a sudden - she's got no problem with it. It's odd, but you won't hear me complain!

3. She went to sleep with hardly a peep. For the past several months, Em would cry loudly for about ten minutes after we put her in her crib. After the ten or so minutes were up, we'd hear happy 'talking' from the baby monitor. Last night, she cried for less than a minute and then we heard the happy noises.

I have no explanation for these improvements, but I thank the Maker that we have a wonderfully healthy, cute, and so far well-adjusted little girl.
